What is brand voice and why does it matter?
Brand voice is the tone and style Citably applies when it writes AEO articles and interactive tool copy for your site. A clear voice keeps deployed content sounding like your brand instead of like a generic AI.
When you deploy an AEO article or an interactive tool, Citably writes real copy: headlines, explanations, button labels, answers. Brand voice is the instruction set that writing follows. Without it, content defaults to a neutral tone that reads correct but generic. With it, the same content sounds like it came from your team.
You set brand voice inside your brand profile. The strongest setups are specific: two or three adjectives for tone, a sentence about who you are talking to, and a note on what to avoid. “Direct, warm, no jargon, written for clinic owners who are short on time” gives the writer far more to work with than “professional”.
Voice matters for AEO too, not just for taste. AI engines cite content that reads consistent and credible across a site. Deployed pages that match your existing tone blend into your site naturally, which is exactly how they should look to a crawler and to a buyer who clicks through.
You can always edit content before it publishes, and a well-set voice mostly removes the need: the drafts arrive close to final.
Voice settings are forward-looking: changing them affects the next thing you generate, never content already deployed. If an older page needs the new voice, regenerate it and redeploy.
