Can I use Citably without a CMS connection?

Last updated: July 4, 2026Integrations
Quick answer

Yes. Every deployed asset has Copy and Download options, so you can publish the content on any platform yourself. A CMS connection automates the publishing step; it is never a requirement.

The split is simple: everything Citably measures and generates is platform-independent, and only the last step, publishing, differs. Scans, receipts, competitor tracking, prompt management, and content generation all run without any connection at all, because they talk to the AI engines, not to your website’s backend.

The manual workflow: deploy an asset, then choose Copy for clean HTML on your clipboard or Download for a file. Paste articles into your CMS editor, paste tool snippets into an HTML or embed block, and upload llms.txt to your domain root. Custom-built sites, static site generators, and any CMS without a direct integration all work this way.

What you give up without a connection is convenience, not capability: no one-click publish, no automatic WordPress drafts, and no automatic llms.txt placement. What you keep is everything else, including instant indexing on Scale, which submits your published URLs once the pages are live regardless of how they got there.

Teams on unconnected platforms usually settle into a rhythm: generate and review in Citably, paste in one batch, publish, then let the next scans measure the effect. The loop is identical; only the middle click is yours.

The manual workflow scales fine: teams publishing this way usually batch their deployments weekly, which pairs naturally with a weekly scan cadence and keeps the paste step to one sitting.
