How does instant indexing work?
On the Scale plan, every asset you deploy is submitted automatically to Google through the Search Console API and to Bing through IndexNow the moment it publishes. Engines crawl the new page in hours instead of weeks.
A deployed fix only starts working once engines have read it. Left alone, a new page waits for crawlers to find it on their own schedule, which can take weeks, and your citation cannot flip until that happens. Instant indexing removes the wait by telling the indexes directly.
The mechanics: when a deployed asset goes live, Citably submits its URL to Google through the Search Console Indexing API and to Bing through IndexNow. Bing’s index matters twice here, since ChatGPT pulls from it, so faster Bing indexing feeds the highest-traffic answer engine sooner. Both submissions happen automatically at publish time; there is nothing to click and no console to log into.
Requirements: instant indexing is included with Scale, and the Google side needs your Search Console connection so submissions are authorized for your property. Everything Citably deploys is covered: AEO articles, tool pages, and your llms.txt file.
Indexing is a request, not a command; engines fetch on their side, usually within hours. If you edit a deployed page later and want the update picked up quickly, re-index it manually from the dashboard.
Submission status shows in your dashboard alongside each deployed asset, so you can confirm a page was submitted and give engines time to fetch it before judging the next scan’s results.
