How do I re-index deployed content?

Last updated: July 4, 2026Tracking Citations
Quick answer

Open the deployed asset in your dashboard and choose Re-index to resubmit it to Google and Bing. Re-indexing is available on Scale with Google Search Console connected.

Re-indexing is for the second submission and every one after that. The first happens automatically: on Scale, instant indexing submits each deployed asset when it publishes. But pages change, and engines do not re-read your site the moment they do. After a meaningful edit, re-indexing gets the updated version fetched in hours instead of whenever the next natural crawl arrives.

1

Open your deployed assets list in the dashboard.

2

Select the asset whose page you updated.

3

Choose Re-index. Citably resubmits the URL to Google through the Search Console API and to Bing through IndexNow.

4

Confirmation appears once both submissions are accepted; engines typically fetch within hours.

When it is worth doing: after substantive edits to a deployed article, after changing what an interactive tool displays, or after regenerating llms.txt to reflect a site change. Cosmetic tweaks can wait for natural crawling; changed answers should not, because an engine citing your page reads whatever version its index holds.

Requirements match instant indexing: a Scale plan and a connected Google Search Console property. If the Google submission fails, check that your connection has not expired.

A useful habit: after any batch of edits, re-index the affected pages together, then wait for the next scan before judging effect. That way indexing lag never masquerades as a content problem.
