What is an AEO article?
An AEO article is a page written to win a specific AI answer: a direct, citable response to one buyer question, structured so AI engines can quote it. Citably generates them for prompts where you are not cited and deploys them to your site.
AEO stands for Answer Engine Optimization, and an AEO article is that discipline applied to a single page. Where a classic blog post covers a topic broadly, an AEO article exists to answer one question so cleanly that an engine assembling a response has an obvious source to cite: you.
The structure follows from the job. The question is answered directly and early, in language an engine can lift whole. Specifics do the convincing: numbers, named mechanisms, honest comparisons. The page carries proper schema, and the whole thing is written in your brand voice so it reads like your site, not like an insert.
Citably ties each article to a tracked prompt. You pick a prompt where you are Not cited, and the generated article answers that exact question. Deployed to a connected WordPress site it arrives as a draft and inherits your site template, so it ships looking native. After you publish and the page is indexed, the next scans tell you whether the prompt flipped to Cited, which is the only success metric that matters.
When the winning asset in your category is functional rather than editorial, a calculator or comparison widget beats prose; that is when to reach for an interactive tool instead.
