What is an AI Visibility Score?
Your AI Visibility Score measures how often AI engines cite your brand across the buyer prompts Citably runs for you. It condenses every citation result from a scan into one number you can track over time.
Every scan runs 10 buyer prompts: 5 commercial-intent questions and 5 comparison questions, generated from your own site. Each prompt either cites your brand or does not, per engine. The score aggregates those results, so more citations across more prompts means a higher score.
You will find the score on the Your Score tab of the dashboard, next to its supporting metrics: Share of Model, the Ad Exposure Score, and the Citation Health Index. The score is the headline; the supporting metrics tell you why it moved.
Two things matter when you read it. First, direction beats level: a climbing score means AI engines are citing you more often, whatever the starting point. Second, single scans wobble because AI answers are generated fresh each time. Judge the trend across weeks, not one reading against another.
To raise the score, work the gaps. Open the prompts where you are not cited, see which sources the engine used instead, and deploy content that answers that exact question better. That loop, scan, spot the gap, deploy the fix, re-scan, is the whole Citably workflow.
The score is engine-aware: on multi-engine plans the Your Score tab also splits results per engine, and a gap between engines is itself a finding. A brand strong in ChatGPT but absent in Gemini usually has a sources problem, not a content problem.
